As we marked the 10th anniversary of the studio, formerly known as Katie Malik Interiors, I’ve been filled with gratitude and excitement.
This milestone is a testament to a decade of creativity, dedication, and the transformative power of design so beautifully visible in all projects I’ve worked on.
The Beginnings…
Ten years ago, I set out on this incredible journey with a simple yet powerful vision: to help people create their dream homes. Armed with passion and an unwavering belief in the impact of thoughtful design, I started from my small home office. Balancing my teaching job during the day, I poured my heart into my fledgling interior design business, often working late into the night.
Those early days were humbling but rewarding. Every project, no matter how small, was an opportunity to build trust and confidence with my clients. Slowly but surely, my hard work paid off, allowing me to move into a proper studio space—a significant milestone in my journey. I remember I had to pinch myself when I picked up the first keys to my studio office- I thought that day would never come but it’s something I aspired to.
Achieving Accreditation and Recognition
One of my dreams was to become fully accredited with the British Institute of Interior Design (BIID). After more than five years of relentless dedication, that dream became a reality. Achieving accreditation was not just a professional milestone but a personal victory, validating the countless hours and sacrifices made along the way.
As my work gained recognition, I began winning awards for various projects. Each accolade was a testament to the passion and commitment poured into every design. I proudly display all the awards in the studio.
However, one of the greatest challenges has been mastering the business aspects of running a studio. To navigate these waters, I sought coaching and training, equipping myself with the knowledge and skills necessary to thrive in this very competitive industry.
A Decade of Diverse Projects
Over the years, I’ve had the privilege of serving a diverse range of clients. From renovations to new builds, each project has been an opportunity to turn a blank canvas into a home filled with life and personality. Every design tells a story, and being part of those stories has been incredibly rewarding. I have been asked how many projects I have worked on in the last 10 years so I counted…and the number is 102!
Gratitude for a Supportive Community
None of this would have been possible without the support of my suppliers, contractors, and other talented designers. I am incredibly proud of the talented individuals who have joined me on this journey. Their contributions have been invaluable, and I am deeply grateful for their dedication and hard work. Looking Ahead: Embracing the Future
Reaching the 10-year mark is a significant milestone, one that fills me with immense pride and gratitude. It is especially meaningful in an industry that is constantly evolving. As I look to the future, I am excited about the new opportunities and challenges that lie ahead. Together, we will continue to innovate, inspire, and create spaces that not only meet our clients’ needs but exceed their expectations.
