Interior Design for Datchet Homes
A beautiful interior should feel connected to the home it belongs to, without being constrained by it. For Katie Malik Design Studio, designing a home in Datchet begins with understanding both sides of that relationship. The property brings its architecture, proportions and existing details; the people living there bring their own tastes, possessions and ideas about how they want home to feel.
Our role is to find the right balance between them. The studio creates highly personal interiors through interior design, interior architecture, bespoke detailing and FF&E, with complete turn-key support available for clients who want the wider project brought together under one experienced team.

Designing Datchet Homes With a Sense of Place
Katie Malik Design Studio responds to the individual property rather than imposing a particular look. Existing proportions, architectural details and the setting of the home can all inform the interior, while colour, materials, furniture, lighting and bespoke elements introduce the personality of the people living there.
For an older Datchet property, that might mean giving original details space to remain visible while introducing contemporary furniture and lighting. Elsewhere, the opportunity may be to bring greater warmth, individuality or depth to an interior with fewer existing architectural cues.
A Personal Approach to Interior Design in Datchet
Katie Malik Design Studio does not begin with a predetermined house style. We begin by getting to know the client and understanding what they want their home to become. That includes the practical requirements of each room, but also the less tangible preferences that make an interior personal: the colours you are instinctively drawn to, pieces you want to keep, materials you enjoy living with and the atmosphere you want to experience when you come home.
Katie and the studio use those details to develop a clear creative direction, bringing furniture, lighting, colour, materials and bespoke design together rather than treating them as separate decisions.
How the Studio Can Shape Your Home
Our involvement can focus entirely on the interior scheme or extend into the architecture and delivery of a more comprehensive project.
Interior Design
Interior Design establishes the creative language of the home. Colour, materials, furniture, lighting and bespoke details are developed together, with decisions shaped by your preferences rather than a predetermined studio style.
Interior Design Consultancy
Sometimes you need expertise rather than complete project delivery. Our hourly consultancy service gives homeowners access to professional design advice while they continue to manage their own project. It can provide direction at the beginning or help resolve particular decisions as the project develops.
Interior Architecture
Where changes to the space are needed, Interior Architecture takes the design further. The studio can consider space planning, flow, lighting and electrical layouts, technical drawings, 3D visualisation and material specification, helping the physical interior support the way the rooms will eventually be used.
Furniture, Fittings & Equipment
Furniture and finishing pieces give an interior much of its personality. Our FF&E service covers furniture, decorative lighting, rugs, window treatments, artwork and other movable elements. Katie Malik Design Studio can also oversee sourcing and procurement through specialist suppliers and artisans.
House Whispering
There are homes where the difficulty is easy to identify. The layout is awkward, the lighting is wrong or the furnishings no longer suit the room. And then there are homes where nothing appears obviously wrong, yet something still feels unsettled.
House Whispering explores that less tangible relationship between people and place. Katie trained in the methodology with architect and House Whisperer Christian Kyriacou, considering atmosphere, flow and emotional dynamics alongside conventional design principles.

Turning a Design Into a Finished Home
Once the creative direction is established, hundreds of details determine whether it is successfully realised.
Furniture needs sourcing. Materials and finishes have to arrive at the right point. Specialist makers and suppliers may become involved, while decisions made during implementation need to remain consistent with the original scheme.
For clients choosing our turn-key service, Katie Malik Design Studio provides one point of contact across its appointed scope.
The studio coordinates the materials, resources, skills and third parties required, working through clear stages and milestones until the individual elements come together as a finished interior.
